Here's something interesting that was in the Wall Street Journal today. The Pilgram
Nuclear Plant in Plymouth, MA is under contract for sale. The agreed upon price
is $80 million; peanuts for a Nuclear Plant. The book value of the plant is %650
million. For comparison, coal fired plants, on the rare occasion they are sold, rake
in an average of 1 1/2 times there book value. More interesting is the fact that just
last month, the Three Mile Island Plant in PA went under contract to the same
energy company for 100 million; also a steal. The article goes on to say there are
30 companies looking to sell their nuclear plants over the next several years. If this
isn't Y2K, I'll eat my shirt!
