Just saw an odd item on tonight's local news:

The reporter sez that while speaking at COMDEX, Oracle's Larry "Looselips" Ellison hinted broadly at a $500 "iMac type computer" for Christmas of this year...

Did I miss something?

Good news: AAPL getting "spiffy"

From Macintouch,
-------
Readers report that Apple will be paying "spiffs" through the end of the year to salespeople who sell iMacs ($30) and PowerBooks ($50) in retail stores. (Neither cataloggers nor "electronic" resellers are included in the program.) A former Apple dealer writes:

"I delight in this news as all too often I have gone into CompUSA or recently Best Buy, and the sales staff have on occasion ( right before my very eyes) tried to steer customers interested in Mac's, over to the Wintel side. I firmly believe this Spiff Program will stimulate the heck out of Mac Sales."
--------

This will go a long way toward rectifying those Best Buy horror stories.
