My point wasn't so much big stocks vs.small or cheap vs. expensive. It was the actual stock price and whether it was a high number or not. In other words, a portfolio that consisted of 10 penny stocks that are each up 100%, that also included one stock that started out the beginning of the year at a price of 25 per share and that declined to 20 would show a net loss measured your way. On a weighted basis (percentage) this same portfolio would have an awesome performance.
