Mania or not, the pouring of money into the Internet sector has been incredible. It may not "end" completely for several months or years. My bet is that the effect of the Internet is so dramatic and still so new that it will continue to drive investors into the market for these stocks for some time to come. Along the way, as has been the case in other wild sectors, there will be many ups and downs and some winners but more losers. What is so unusual about the Internet runnup is just how quickly it has moved. Another big difference is just how few real barriers their are to market entry. It took a lot of development work and many years to compete in biotech or networking equipment industries for instance. It takes only months to compete in the Internet business.

I am more bullish on the sector than I am bearish, it's just laughable at how much money has been thrown at companies that only need a single set-back to send their stocks tumbling.
