Once was enough for a novice hog slaughter. Lost our cold smoker and really felt lucky to get the results we did.

I started hunting when I was 4. By the time I was 8 I could take a rabbit, pheasant or quail and turn it into cooking ready. Could also fillet fish at 8. Deer are just big rabbits.

Our hunting season is well past breeding season so no problems there. I shot a deer in '92, took it in to the butchers. That was the end of my hunting. If I didn't have the time to do the butchering, I didn't have the time to kill it. Personal thing.
