SOFTQUAD INTERNATIONAL INC. ANNOUNCES RESULTS FOR 1998 Q3

Toronto, Canada, (November 13, 1998) - "...In accordance with Canadian GAAP, the net loss for the quarter ended September 30, 1998, amounted to $2.5 million or 19 cents per share*, as compared to a net loss of $1.5 million or 11 cents per share for the comparable quarter last year. Under U.S. GAAP, the net loss for the quarter ended September 30, 1998, was $1.9 million or 14 cents per share, as compared to a net loss of $1.4 million or 11 cents per share for the comparable quarter last year. The main difference between Canadian GAAP and U.S. GAAP is the accounting treatment of the acquisition of the majority interest in NewKidCo, LLC ("NewKidCo").

The 3rd quarter was characterized by costs associated with Softquad Inc.**, which has now been sold, and investments in the company's NewKidCoTM joint venture. "We believe that our future business lies heavily with NewKidCo which we expect will begin generating revenues and driving our business from the 4th quarter onwards. Advance orders for the NewKidCo products from our retail partners have been encouraging and we are optimistic about the prospects for profits and growth from this business," stated Richard Rabins, CEO..."

* actually q3 losses from continuing operations were <C$3,136,000>
**Rabins attributes Q3 losses to SoftQuad Inc yet failed to point out that losses would have been ~27% more if it were not for the SoftQuad Inc. $C657,000 gain on sale of assets.

...accordingly...how does a STRONG SELL get issued including detailed q4 98 and fy 99 numbers reflecting continuing losses?...either the analyst/securities firm or Schneider/SWEBF could be facing considerable legal problems as q4 98...fy 99 numbers are released...?
