Pentium IIs had the same problem. I know of a 266 that still has the problem. Intel chose to patch the chip since Win95 was the leading OS at the time.. With no problem on Win98 I don't expect AMD to fix it on the chip...
Microsoft has admited its their problem. We know all about Microsoft code...
