Just heard some of the CNN discussion on Reno letting Gore go free. I am deeply disturbed by the pattern of frivolous defense strategies I see in Clinton's and Gore cases:

1. These investigations cost too much money to the tax payer. This argument is ridiculous. The US wastes billions every day in much less important matters. keeping politicians honest is worth much more than the expense. Look at countries like Venezuela where corruption is rampant.

2. These issues distract the President/Vice-President from focusing in bigger and better things like social security, drugs, and education. is this supposed to be a joke? Clinton is the best example of an "achieve nothing politician" I have ever seen. he failed in health care reform and the quality of our education keeps declining. He has achieved nothing and will achieve nothing, he is just riding the wave started by Reagan/Bush. I teach at a State University and have witnessed the quality of our graduates slip to the point where their skills are equivalent to those of a high school graduate of 20 years ago. Any effort to tighten standards is not welcomed by either the students or the administration. Actually, proper procedures in regards to Clinton's and Gore crimes is the most important issue for the country now. if these issues are not handled properly now, if we just sweeping them under the rug, we will pay the consequences later.

The views above are supposedly endorsed by the "american people". Does any one know who these persons are? everybody seems to know what they think and what they want. Why do we have law makers, judges and juries? if the people are smart enough to decide all issues, why don't we install voting machines at every home and take a vote on every decision public servants need to make and every trial going on in the nation.
