>>How about Msft acquiring both Yahoo and seek?? In any event all these companies better go before the Federal judge singing WE R The World before the feds really mess up the good old American competitive spirit!!! Good luck to all>> I really get a chuckle out of these mega mergers...... The Sun/AOL/Netscape deal is simply a Java wedding or coronation. And I'm not downplaying the potential response from Microsoft. This caged, cornered tiger will come out swinging for they have a huge fight on their hands right now. This past week was an 8.0 on the technology richter scale. The windows monopoly is up for grabs. I would sell into any rally from here on up for the general public - AND those on Wall Street who want to pull the wool and mislead - does not understand the longer term implications of what's taken place. And please, everyone, leave me out of this. I have ideas, but do not - for a minute - claim to have a crytal ball. Regarding the NSCP announcement, my fuzzy crystal ball says that there will be a lot of confusion all across the board. Dust, thumping, "I told you so's, etc". But let's wait for the dust to settle. The Java ruling, rise of Java, Windows 2000 delay, lack of a Directory, buggy/thick/poor code, not enough focus, too many baskets, too many eggs.....all leave Microsoft with a troubled future. I'm sure Gates sees and understands all these trends. The question is: how is he thinking...1) as a predator - which cannot humbly create or nurse the next great technology or idea; or 2) as a humble grounded capitalist with fresh insights. I don't see many fresh insights coming from Redmond. Their attempt to steal Java - and many other examples - have made them a marked company. Time to gang up and feast......? Time for Bill to give birth.......? Time for both......?
