Hi, I hope you don't mind this lurker. I have quite a few of the stocks you talk about, many at a loss. But my Core Labs is moving up , in contrast to others that recently dropped back again. Did I miss something? Any comments appreciated. Thanks, Katy

Friday's release about Venezuela breaking its commitment is probably the worst piece of fundamental news to hit the oil market in some time. Expectations for the OPEC meeting were at least for an extension of production cuts, with a very outside chance of additional cuts. Without Venezuela's agreement, all bets are off.

Having said that, fundamentals don't matter in this market. There is a ton of money sitting in mutual funds, with more to come from Christmas and year-end bonuses. I feel these stocks are going up because that's the only direction this market knows.

Caveat: it may not be a good idea to be holding too many shares if/when these companies start to pre-announce.

OPEC meeting spun negatively:

"FOCUS-Oil ministers flee wreckage of OPEC meeting

By Andrew Mitchell

VIENNA, Nov 27 (Reuters) - OPEC ministers on Friday hurried away after a disastrous Vienna meeting that looks like inflicting even more punishment on their oil-dependent economies.

The careworn oil cartel's breakdown in cooperation will ensure that this year's crushing price slump gets worse before it gets any better, analysts said. ...

In a stormy two-day meeting OPEC could not even agree to extend its 2.6 million barrels per day (bpd) output package as
suffering producers proved unable to find common ground. ...

''The body language when delegations came out was as bad as almost any OPEC meeting I can remember,'' said Varzi. ...

Not one minister was prepared to brief journalists as they quickly turned tail from Vienna. ..."

Etc, etc.
