This is an area I don't understand. Why not cover now while you have a bit more profit? You can always short again if you think the current price rise is a fad. Is there some initial expense involved which makes it difficult to short / cover and short again, i.e. is there a large commission involved? I have closed many positions (not short, but sometimes calls ) early when my initial assumptions did not appear correct, and in some cases I missed a bunch of profit, but you can usually collect some. If you are not sure why not take what money you can?
