Paul, thanks for the IBD info! I found some SP500/Barra information
just now. It may help also. The sector is shown together with some
ranking and analyst recs. Unfortunately it's almost 2 months old.

As you know, the IBD sector ranking is based on stock prices
and their recent history, not on fundamentals. It would be helpful
to have a weekly or monthly ranking list a few years back.
I don't know if that is available anywhere.

Paul/all, did Applied single-handedly improve btb?...

"We believe better-than-expected orders by Applied
Materials drove much of the bookings improvement," said
Jay Deahna of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, in San
Francisco, in a report. "Applied's better-than-expected
orders in October were derived mainly from two large
domestic chip makers, one for leading-edge 0.18-micron
capacity expansion and another for process technology
improvements at 0.25 microns/0.22 microns.

Still here---still hholding. I have no charts to refer to, but as you know, I have been following this stock for thirty years. I have seen the patterns time and time again,

When this stock breaks forty, firmly, I believe it will be Katie bar the door. I expect a steady rise with small pullbacks to let the timid out.

As you know, I never sell, but hold to the death, which can't be too much longer at age 81 although I am in excellent health in the gym 3 or 4 times a week. The end is the only way I can beat the wonderful capital gains I am sitting on. The years have proven me right.

I think you are the best on this thread and will continue to make money buying the best in the business.
