Tom offered apologetically:"I offended one or two people, primarily George, and I'm real sorry about that. I'm embarrassed about a bit of it, but hey, another day, another learning experience."

It's OK Tom, I offended someone once, well Ok, maybe more than once, but never twice on the same day, well OK, maybe within a span of minutes, but never before lunch, and NEVER on important matters such as one's taste in comic books or favorite utterances of the Sacred Virgin Mother like "Christ, what do you want NOW????"

Ah well- it wasn't much of a poem- but I thought if we were going in for religious poetry balance was called for.

I am not much of a tree hugger- but I know Christine likes trees. Not that i do not like trees, love 'em but not in the kissy huggy sort of way.

I can't remember who quoted Bertrand Russel (one of my favorite writers) but I am with him 100% on all he has to say on the Christian faith- and faith in general. He said it much better than I could- so read "Why I am Not a Christian" (I can also recommend Understanding History- a collection of essays, Marriage and Morals, Unpopular Essays and A History of Western Philosophy.) Russel is so engaging in his writing it is as good as a conversation- better really, because you are not required to supply anything witty in return. I also think Hoffer's The True Believer should be required reading for all fanatics- but of course only moderates will read it. Can lead a fanatic to water...
