US Airways approves $500 million buyback

ARLINGTON, Va., , Nov 23 (Reuters) - US Airways Group, parent company of the
sixth-largest U.S. airline, on Monday said its board has authorized a program to buy back up to $500 million of its stock.

The shares will be purchased from time to time in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions, the parent of US Airways said.

The company will begin purchases under the program after it completes the stock purchases authorized by the board earlier this year.

A company spokesman declined further comment.

Shares of US Airways closed up 7/16 Monday at 46-7/16 in trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
