And codes of ethical conduct as do privately practicing engineers. :-) I work with some auditors who are not constrained in some of the ways those at a independent firm might be -- these folks work hard at trying to get at the bottom of everything, but manpower is a problem for us. I figure when practiced at its best, auditing is a little like detective work. You keep looking over the records -- you identify areas which merit a further look and the process repeats until you are satisfied.
