You are right. It is pretty much subjective. But I can tell the difference in the demo's that I have witnessed. (Sony and Panasonic 32" SuperFlat direct view) Double blind testing has given the edge to 1080i.( 1035 line Sony).

Most home viewers will not be able to tell the difference. I had hoped not to go into a dissertation as to why I would choose i over p, but there IS a difference.....

As far as viewing at the authored format, unless you shot it on your PC, most production is done in interlaced format.

Hold off on the overpriced plazma displays. They do not have the brightness or contrast for a decent pix. May come eventually.

I am holding out for a 2nd generation front projection HDTV system to replace my Kloss that I still keep running. (72" screen).
