SUNW will do well long because the internet and "networked applications" are increasingly important to two vital customer groups: enterprise IT shops and traditional biz-to-consumer busineses. Unlike most me too players, SUNW comes to the table of both these customer groups with mind-share, in hardware, reliable, scalable OS infrastructure and with software, due to JAVA and their UX API's. These fundamental issues matter and will play out over time.

The purchase of NSCP server suites can be big for a number of reasons. It further presents the software side of SUNW to the entreprise customers which already trust them on the infrastructure and technology end. Also, they can do much better selling these solutions than NSCP has been able to do. They already have entreprise sales paradigms in place, something NSCP groped around for.

But, of most important LONG, is the very "idea" of networked apps as versus client/server. No IS guy is going to build a c/s app if he can build a reliable, secure, and scalable networked app using Internet technologies. The business imperatives call out for leveraging any app you build everywhere you can leverage it. The internet allows this to happen; c/s does not, not easily anyway. And so, since SUNW is the posterboy of the "network is the solution" movement, as the world shifts this way, the shift redounds to SUNWs benefit. Said another way, as the internet matures, continually, for the next three years, look for the model of computing and the solution paradigm SUNW has been pushing to relentlessly gain ground.

This is why SUNW has a long way to keep growing.
