It seems to me that this evidence shows there is a monopoly. That is, Intel, Compaq and Sun, with all their billions and billions, refrain from entering an obviously lucurative market. What is the Microsoft lawyer trying to prove-- that these companies are making bad business decisions? As far as deciding the case vs. war memos, well, a major benefit of this case (in my view) is that now everyone sees what so many of us have known for so long-- that Microsoft is an oppressor of technological progress, not a supporter. We in the know have been trading stories for years about how Microsoft squashes this or that technology. Or how they hire the chief software architect of a competing firm, not for his talents, but to prevent the firm from creating a useful product. Or how they decide to put things in the OS not because of customer demand (where's a good scripting language for Win32?), but because it kills off potential competition. So whatever the outcome of the case, I'm already very happy about it.
