Sig, you missed my quiz back in September. I thought I was paying $22,000 for CSCO LEAPS, but paid $33,000. I'm just thankful I wasn't into margin.

<Japan>Foreign Firms Slash PC Prices 20-50% For Corporate Users

Sig:
Well this is good 'coz we know who is got the cost advantage over the others who are slashing prices don't we? Dell will eat the lunch of the other guys who are cutting their own throat for market share, with the exception of Micron perhaps and I would expect them to come 2nd in cost advantage after DELL.As you know one of them DELL boys is running Micron now right?<yahooooooo>

TOKYO (Nikkei)-Foreign personal computer makers are cutting prices 20-50% in Japan to shore up sales to corporate customers, relying on cost reductions achieved by keeping inventories low, sources at the companies say.

Hewlett-Packard Japan Ltd. says it plans to slash its PC prices by an average 20% in early December and halve memory and peripheral equipment prices in an effort to undercut domestic computer makers by more than 10%.

A server with Trend Micro Inc.'s antivirus software will sell for 258,000 yen, some 60% less than usual, Hewlett-Packard sources said.

Dell Computer KK has begun offering discounts of up to 30% this month, Micron Electronics Japan KK has slashed prices by a maximum of 39% and Gateway 2000 Japan Inc. has cut the prices of some notebook computers by 20%.

As a result of the price reduction, some PCs using Intel Corp.'s Celeron processor sell to corporate users for only 110,000 yen to 120,000 yen.

Compaq Computer KK has halved the prices of some servers this autumn and plans to extend the discounting to more products, company officials said.
