U.S. Stock Market Outlook

Near-Term
The only thing we can say about yesterday's explosive gain of 214 Dow points was that it was broad based and very exciting! What we did not say was that our new
target for the Dow was 12,000! This quote was a misprint and was officially denied in the Wall Street Journal this morning. For several weeks we have purposely
avoided talking about the market's levels because we felt that it would detract from the real message, which is: BUY INDIVIDUAL STOCKS. At around 2:30pm
NY time Monday, we mentioned seven stocks that appeared to be breaking to the upside and were poised for handsome gains. These stocks are listed below in the
Prudential Universe.

Intermediate Term
The one question upper most in everyone's mind is: Will The Dow Hit 10,000 By The End Of 1998? Our official response is: Due to the market's current upward
momentum and due to the market's impressive leadership (excluding the internet stocks), the odds are now better than 50/50 that the DJIA will hit 10,000 by the end
of this year! With a current reading of 9374 and about 5 weeks left until the end of this year, it is reasonable to expect a 627 point gain on the Dow. This equates to
only a 6.7% gain for the DJIA between now and the end of 1998.

Long-Term
We are currently in the process of writing our Fearless Forecast for 1999. We will commence with a review of our 1998 outlook and will build up our story from
there. We will do an extensive review of all 91 S&P groups with an eye toward culling new emerging leadership. We suspect that the bottom up approach (stock
selection) will uncover a bigger messag
