Up...maybe even near 10k in January. Remember the January effect mainly effects small stocks...thse indices might do better.
What do we have going for us now? Seasonality. Coming into the most powerful upside seasonal time of the year. Thanksgiving through January. Liquidity. Lot's of money still on the sidelines.
Housing starts at all time highs. Houses must be filled with durable goods...appliances, furniture. Should keep us going for at least 6 more months.
Also, perception that the FED can generate a soft landing is very bullish. Believe it or not the fundamental environment for stocks is still good. Low rates, low inflation or so the gov says and most bellweathers have learned to beat street expectations by a penny.
Clinton's definitely a plus. The more he has to leave the country to get away from Washington the less damage he can do. Same goes for congress being preoccupied with Clinton.

Downside? Valuations? What's dat?
Market may be discounting Japans troubles too soon.
FED runnning out of rate cuts...but with economy moving right along that might be a mute point.
Y2K? Actually I see that as bullish for some sectors such as semiconductors. Many will replace old computer equipment.
On the other hand, it could spook some investors into cash but remember that the average investor hasn't been spooked so far. This doesn't leave out the possibility that institutional investors, the followers that they are, won't start another giant sucking sound.

Well, that's what I think right now...I'm sure that Ole49er will save this in case the market goes to h@ll in a hand basket.

I know this is a gold BB so I will give my thought of the day...
really a definition...
"Goldbug"- Person who sits on a pot of gold waiting for a disaster....and can't seem to get off the pot.
