Outstanding concept. Only, utilities build the outside plant component with what you call pure [optical] up to the space next to the basement breaker box; T builds the central office and the virtual component, i.e., the cloud formations; and, then they each get an an Internet, er... I mean an interest. Who does the STB-I/O interface?

ahhaha and Frank,
RCN has cut a deal with Boston Edison in the greater Boston area to string cable along their ROW. The RCN/Boston Edison combine is operational in a few areas and they are bidding to win cable contracts in many other Massachusetts towns and cities.
