Gee whiz, all this talk about COOL has succeeded in providing cover for CPQ to break its customary trading pattern! Instead of opening higher and sinking throughout the day, we started down and are creeping into positive territory. I think this is very encouraging, but then again, I am also an incurable optimist. :-)

Dear El: Well, we are witnessing it right here with mr Garcia. I went and checked out that COOL. I think its a pump and dump scheme. Was selling for 13 short while ago. They announced something about forming an ON-LINE retail Mall, Alex Brown gave it a strong buy and the rest is history. Truth is the company is losing a fortune and expects to lose even more next year. That stock is going on internet mania and when the momentum stops it will plummet probably even below the 13. Garcia, if you are reading this as soon as you have a profit get out of that stock. Or if it starts to drop get out. It will fall as quick as it rose IMHO. Buy quality companies and hold them thats how you build wealth. Right now market pretty toppy so really difficult to recommend any of the larger companies like INTC, SUNW and the like. CPQ may be the only bargain currently available in the stable large caps. If you want to play find some nice strong small caps which havent yet come back from the august drop buy em and put em away for now. Examples like NANO, PMTC, PLAB come to my mind. JDN
