Yiwu, I did not see that program. However, I have heard that most Russian soldiers have not been paid for months, especially in Gen. Ledbed's Siberian command. Ledbed is a presidential hopeful, and distrustful of the west. Also, it was reported that Russian soldiers and citizens were being evacuated from a region of the Caucasus (ala another Chechnya) since there was no assurance that they would fight against any insurgency. Basically Russia is falling apart and already facing a cold winter. And they have a history of revolution running in their veins. As for the US, we remain shelters geographically by our oceans. However, Mexico could easily fall apart and we could see US troops guarding the borders against a influx of refugees. (sounds extreme, but entirely posible). But where the US is particularly vulnerable is in cyberspace. And with the onset of Y2K, I have a firm belief that some foreign power may seek to disrupt our informational infrastructure under the guise of Y2K problems. (I have personal reason to believe that US gov't heads are also worried about this threat). The practical explanation for my fears is that with much of the world suffering and the US economy seemingly thriving amongst this misery, the US becomes an inviting target for those countries who fear the US is advancing so quickly they may never catch up. Sometimes being top-dog ain't as safe as it seems. My theories may seem extreme, and I don't expect them to be visited in the short-term. However, I do see the stage being set for future turmoil where the US may find itself thrashing helplessly as it is faced with a multitude of regional threats to our interests. Regards, Ron
