probably a short seller trying to manipulate the stock for their own gain . If you look at the long range chart though , AMD would normally have this large a correction , followed by the next leg up .For example on 13 dec '96 AMD peaked at $28.375 then dropped to $24.875
on the 3 Jan '97 followed by a 3 week rally to $35.00
