Darrell, I just want to point out for those that dont know that the term "hedge fund" is a little overused in this climate after the LTCM fiasco and other recent disasters. There are all kinds of hedge funds, it is merely a financial classification that allows a manager to invest more freely than a traditional mutual fund. Additionally the compensation for hedge fund managers is as a % of gain in the fund and as such they are more highly compensated than mutual fund managers, so of course most of the good guys would rather manage these funds (ex Vinik etc). US Opportunity hedge funds as far as I know is the largest classification type and these are no more risky than many of the personal portfolios I see mentioned here on SI. If anybody wants to see a ranking of hedge funds the publication is www.marhedge.com

Anyway just doing my part in support of the poor, unfairly accused hedge fund managers of the world!
