YIKES !!! I've been gone a few hours and it feels like a week ! vepoc: Not sure what you meant by remarks suggesting that I didn't read your private message? Were you talking to JIMBO? Whatever, you and I are cool, vepoc. Will comment on the Church of What's Working Now when I gather my thoughts. Have mixed feelings. CGarcia: Looks like everyone has already posted horror stories. Doesn't help, does it? Here's my take FWIW - 1) Stuff may sell off a little tomorrow because no one wants to be long over the holiday, 2) there is virtually NO institutional money in the internet stocks except maybe for the well known biggies with some kind of track record, 3) the float on COOL is about 4 mil - it traded 21 mil today - THINK ABOUT IT, 4) we all use the internet so often that we tend to forget that in the grand scheme of things, it really is in its infancy and there will be plenty of opportunity to make good money in internet stocks, 5) pretty much most of the good news is already in the internet stocks for the time being, and 6) HOPE does not make stocks go up. My conclusion would be to sell. If you want to try to squeeze fractional gains or wait til Monday for a possible rebound, maybe, but it's risky. Yeah, it would probably take off if you sold it, but I would much rather wish that I'd bought something that was flyin' without me and live to trade another day than be in the crash and burn scenario any day. Sell, enjoy Thanksgiving and take some time off to think about what your investment strategy should be going forward, There are good opportunities in the market every day. In any event, I will be rooting for COOL. El: You ARE a hoot! The DEC acquisition - The Bear Stearns comment was from June 5: re-its BUY, DEC acquisition on track and then June 12: re-its BUY again, DEC acquisition ADDS to 3rd quarter DILUTION. June is a long time ago. Does Bear Stearns have any kind of track record on CPQ? Are they just regurgitating what management told them? Look, I believe management. I believe CPQ will do unbelievable things in '99. All I'm saying is that the BUY side has its doubts and it needs third party confirmation that things are going well. I don't know why the buy side cares what the analysts say - I feel about analysts the same way Joe Kernan does. I would care what those in the trade say and the trade says GO CPQ ! But, I'm not the BIG $. Internet Mania? I know I'm new to this thread, but I've been reading the posts here for a long time. The past few days on this thread have been like no others I've seen. Have mixed feelings, but maybe we should keep the comments here centered on Compaq and put the rest of the stuff on the "Let's Speculate Thread". K
