Tony and thread,

From Ralph A dated 11/24/98:

Intermediate Term
The one question upper most in everyone's mind is: Will The Dow Hit 10,000 By The End Of 1998? Our official response is: Due to the market's current upward momentum and due to the market's impressive leadership (excluding the internet stocks), the odds are now better than 50/50 that the DJIA will hit 10,000 by the end of this year! With a current reading of 9374 and about 5 weeks left until the end of this year, it is reasonable to expect a 627 point gain on the Dow. This equates to only a 6.7% gain for the DJIA between now and the end of 1998.

Tony,

<< Do you mean ESCON directors? If so, they are fiber optic switches that connect the I/O of S390 processors to I/O control units. 248 ports or so maximum. You want to buy some? ;-) >>

Yes. Now, are ESCON directors Fibre switches that connect mainframes to storage (I/O processor to control unit doesn't make much sense when I know very little on mainframes)? When you connect up to 248 ports, what exactly are we connecting up here in lay man terms? thanks

And, perhaps I would like to buy some. Are they colorful and how much do they cost? ;-)
