I'm not trying to be noble. I just have a great deal of experience and plenty of money. I don't expect children in the sandbox to understand what I consider to be elementary fact. Their pursuit of the good life makes them miserable. The great religious teachers have all said the same thing. You can trust them or you can gain the knowledge on your own. Money won't help sandboxers and they will always be poor. If you're poor in spirit, you will find it very hard if not impossible to avoid being poor materially. You've been at TA and the market for more than 20 years. I rest my case and I do it with complete confidence. It is the nature of the game. One uses TA to trade. If one trades, one engages the negative expected return of trading which eventually busts you. This is the silent truth of all the best traders throughout history. You can't use TA for investment because investment assumes that whatever the current price, future developments will cause it to rise substantially higher. As soon as you get the conviction to buy, you get long and you ignore charts, TA, and all the rest that only subtract from your conviction and make the investment all that harder to hold. That goes double for the comments I've made on this thread about the coming "end of the world". No doubt trouble brews, it always does. You can take that and file it in the appropriate place because it isn't the kind of thing that helps you to succeed. I write these comments in order to hear my own thinking and to interact with others so that they might say something that provokes me out of my own functional fixation. During the summer I was saying the same thing. The stock market down side and the Asian capitulation only delayed the inevitable. The question remains, what is inevitable? Do we know that Japan will fail to address their problems or do we know the opposite? We know neither, so we have to stay with the facts at this time. The facts suggest that there is a rising floor under gold, so it isn't too bad of an idea to have some. ABX is one of the best to have.
