As you may have guessed, We drivers have not yet received the new car with NiMH batteries as promised.
The good news is there are 15 New Gen2 EV1s in town with NiMH batteries in them. Perhaps the 15 are spread all over CA.but I know 8 are here in L.A. They are for ride and drive testing.
On Dec. 5, there is a preview demonstration for invited guests at a big downtown Hotel where EV1 drivers and others will be able to register for their NiMH,Gen 2 vehicles. according to Stempel these will be mid-range 70KWH(75?) as opposed to the 80KWH batteries we were hoping for. The 80KWHs will not be ready for at least another year.
I have heard that the cars and batteries won't be ready until the end of Jan. 99'. These rumors on delivery dates have always proved wrong but we will have to wait and see. I do believe we are very close.
