Hi Liam! Sorry to here about your latest trade with Datek. But that is the way it is nowadays. I very rarely place any orders any more because I don't know if they will execute or not and worst... if I can even cancel when needed. They've cost me way to much....

AG uses Brown so he would be a good person to ask about them. I don't recall any negative comments from him. Datek's new mission is to outdo the porn sites on tinsel and glitter. And make the Ginus book of records for the most # of online customers, so I'm currently looking into one of the trading platforms. Higher commissions but when all is said and done cheaper than Datek due to the fact a stock can more a point or two against me before Datek's system will figure out I put an order in. Certainly has changed since from a couple of years ago. But then I'm one of those conspiracy nuts and believe that Datek is somehow making money from all these non-executions. Somebody is taking all my money anyway... and all we are at Datek is a book keeping entry.... it would be super easy for their "silly fast" algorithms to delay a trade that is going against a customer to their advantage.

John

<<No phone service when my wife called to sell the position I didn't want in the first place.>>

One suggestion for this is that to call their non-toll-free trading number. That number usually can get through in a not-so-busy market day like yesterday. Even though you end up paying some toll fee for telephone, you might end up better off.

Good luck.

I expect Brown & Co has a large enough staff for events that require a telephone order.

Brown & Co. actually handles the majority of their orders by phone, so they are set up to efficiently handle your phone order. However, when I tried to use the phone when the web trading was down, there were longer waits than I could hold for. If the same technical problem is not affecting all the web traders, the phone is fast and efficient, and they will stay on the line for confirmation.
