I agree with you. I would like to hear SIs current policies on members' privacy, and how it it protected. Also, how private are private messages?

and this should be known by everyone as well:

Site Usage Information

Is SI a Go2 web site?

I found this of minor interest as well #reply-6548160

marcos,

>>>>This really points up the fact that nobody should ever ever ever even consider putting their true identity, location, or email in their profile.<<<<

When I said that, some said indirectly, "what am I hiding", "why am I paranoid."

When I first started chatting in chat rooms some 10-11 years ago, my computer gurus always told me NEVER use your real name, location, etc.

Can you imagine if we were forced to use real names in profiles, and location, and your e-mail address? If you pissed someone off in a chat room, you could be spamed, prank phone calls, the list could go on and on. With your real name (and location would help a bit more) a jerk off could find out allot about you in minutes. What could he / she do with that info? It depends how many screws loose.

When it comes to money, the best of friends could become the worst of enemies. I have seen it happen to family over a few hundred dollars.

It's not being paranoid, just smart. For those who think we are paranoid, I have this question:

Why do you lock your doors in your home?
Why do you have bars on your windows?
Why do you lock you car doors?

What are you hiding in your home or car that you don't want people to see??????
