Tommasco:
Excellent comments, and exactly what I'm seeing across the retail spectrum. Retailers have become ultra-sensitive to inventory levels, particularly after the last two years (of Channel stuffing). They are worried. The "super sale" signs are already sprouting. January will provide a nifty pricing environment for you.

Best, Earlie

I don't think you are typical, but I still think they are in trouble.

The reason GTW does so well for instance is that there are a lot of uninformed consumers. People price shop, but not as much as the typical SI poster.

I too have been looking at buying a new PC. Here in Kansas City CompUSA is offering a complete Packard Bell package (yuk!) for under
$500. A friend of mine who is quite up on when the best times of the year to buy a PC, recommends waiting till February when the "old" models are steeply discounted. He was right about that last year. Based upon what I am reading on this thread and seeing in the newspaper adds during the last 2 weeks, I may wait until after the first of the year to buy one. You can also get no interest for either 6 month or 1 year at most of the national chains.

On another note, you mentioned you could buy BEARX through Quick and Reilly. I have their mutual fund list from last February and BEARX was not listed. Did BEARX get added recently? Also, do you have to adhere to the funds minimum initial investment of $2000? Thanks.

Tommaso...
I am in synch with you on that one. I have been eyeing a new Mac G-3 laptop and price drops can't be far off. They have already hit the desktops in a big way. Already some softness in price is evident along with increased disk size, more memory and other add-ons like a free zip drive. I expect to wait till February and buy one for at least 30% less.
