With all the talk of convergence (& Qcom hype), what does it mean?

As I have said before, convergence is likely between the proponents of the differing WCDMA standards. Ericsson developed WCDMA using core GSM infrastructure (as per the DoCoMo system in Japan). This does not mean that they first have to have an up and running GSM system, but GSM forms the basis to build the 3G requirement (any 3G system has to have a core architecture).
