KIDE's CEO is Al Kahn, who was the guy behind Cabbage Patch Kids and he's considered one of the toy industry's marketing geniuses. Kahn and the other experienced executives at KIDE are why Nintendo chose KIDE to be its exclusive merchandise licensing representative worldwide (except Asia). Clearly, Nintendo wouldn't just hire some unknown because they "overpay." And, I'm sure, Time Warner/Turner also hired
KIDE as its WCW licensing agent because they know what they're doing.
For obvious reasons, KIDE won't reveal their royalty percentages, but I'm comfortable they are getting a good cut. And, remember, the CEO estimated that KIDE's 1998 per share earnings would exceed $.70, not too shabby for a $10 stock -- also, please focus on the "exceed" as well as the $.70. My guess is the biggest part of KIDE's 1998 EPS is from WCW merchandise, which shows they do make lots of money if the products sell. Of course, no one can say how Pokemon will do, but so far it's a screaming success -- as is Zelda.
