John, I live in Quebec city which has not been affected by the ice storm, but I too got prepared as you did , just in case something
like that happen again.

But my biggest concern is the ever low level of water in the reservoir of Hydro Quebec. They have never been so low : about 25 % of their capacity which mean that if we have a very cold winter, we could have some problem here.

The Y2K problem is not much of a concern for the people in the street
right now. We worry much about the rain and snow that did not come
to fill up the reservoir. We are very dependent of electricity in Quebec.

The government is even planning to modify some river to help replenish the reservoir. In the long term, there will be some side effect to it. Hydro Quebec will also build a power plant in New york state using oil to make electricity. They are very worry about that but don't want to talk a lot about it. Reason IMO, it could affect the
credit rating of both Hydro Quebec and the government which depend a lot of the money Hydro give to it.
