I am also using the Maxtor 2880, it hasn't even hiccuped since I went to 504. Don't know about the promise, it may be a problem, but I would try it. My other PCI devices are fine, Matrox Mill. video card - and 100 mbs network card.
It is so easy to change the setting, just one reboot. If I am not sure that a particular setting is stable, I change it for the duration of the trading day and then play with the other settings afterhours and overnight. I almost always will leave a burnin running for many overnight sessions to verify stability with a new setting.

I am aware of the burnin / voltage issue, but to tell you the truth I kind of forgot what voltage I was running with, until I read your post today. :-) This setup has just been so stable, set it and forget it. Guess I'll have to try reducing it this weekend.

Thanks for the info, always interested to hear of other's experiences, especially with OC'ing. It will be interesting to see what we will be able to get out of the new Celerons that Intel has announced.

Good Luck
Dan
