Government lagging on Y2K
U.S. Rep. Stephen Horn gives agencies a ‘D' grade
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON, Nov. 23 — With only 400 days
to go, the Pentagon, State Department and
other big government agencies are lagging
in efforts to remedy Year 2000 computer
problems, a congressman said Monday.
“The picture is a gloomy one,” said Rep.
Stephen Horn, R-Calif., warning of
possible breakdowns in the Medicare
payments system, electrical blackouts and
telecommunications havoc if the problem
isn't fixed.
