Back-UPS

heavy demand PCs)?

It was a complete replacement unit. It just lasted a bit
over 3 minutes (well, I suppose a bit over 4 - I didn't
let it go for the last minute). This is a Back-UPS 600
running two PCs, total of 7 HDs, 17 & 21" monitors both
in full operation. Real time quotes continued to update.
Dow continued to drop.

I have no idea how my original test with my original unit
gave 12 -13 minutes (higher than APCs estimate, and mine).
Did, though, when new. That was now over two years ago,
and I may have added a couple of disks (did add a 56k
modem), but basic config is the same. I never let it
go all the way out after that. Probably should have.

>>What do you mean by "periodically test the unit"?

I mean yank the UPS plug from the wall. No better
way to test the power failure performance. To test
spike performance, just come live in my area for a while

BTW, I posted my earlier note before reading all the other
responses. Looks like many have concluded the same as I
about APC.
