As a former supporter of the "surfactant issue" I certainly feel that with the proper formulations/binders/etc... BPI peptides might find great use in stents and catheters. Though I forget the name of the compay, about a year ago there was a grand announcement about the development of a stent coated with some time-release antibiotic. Apparently there is a lot of difficulty in keeping catheters sterile for long term use and leads to major and expensive problems. So don't discount the possibilities yet!

You'll know Xoma has made it big when BPI peptides make it into toothpaste and contact lens solution! BPI deoderant?!?
(really, I'm only half kidding. If production costs of peptides drops due to new technologies there may be many opportunities for BPI that now appear too expensive...)
