It appears to be going sideways, but lots of buyers at/below $9. Hopefully this acts as a base and any new positive news should push us up higher. 6 brokerages have BUY's on CMIV and hopefully as it moves forward it will gather more interest. I see GREAT things to come for us LONG suffering shareholders...

Continues to trade well. Cannacord has bought some at 9.20. HYC is strong as well, so perhaps attention is coming back to this industry...

IVI CHECKMATE TO SUPPLY NCR WITH ARCHITECTURE FOR TERMINALS
12/02/98
(c) 1998 Phillips Business Information, Inc.
Continuing its strong run of acquisitions and partnerships,
point-of-sale equipment provider IVI Checkmate [CMIV] recently
announced a three-year supply deal with NCR Corp. [NCR]. The $15
million arrangement calls for IVI Checkmate to provide its GEN4
architecture for NCR 5945 retail debit/credit POS terminals and have
its eN-Touch 1000 terminal marketed under the NCR 5992 Signature
Capture "Plus" name.
Atlanta and Toronto-based IVI Checkmate, third in the North
American POS market behind Santa Clara, Calif.-based VeriFone [HWP]
and Phoenix-based Hypercom [HYC], makes up ground on the leaders even
though the products will be branded under the NCR name.
"The NCR relationship is very important because we will get more
distribution," says IVI Checkmate President Barry Thomson. "Getting
our name out is not that important. It's not the first time we have
provided our technology for a private label. We provide the secure
payment module for [Fort Wayne, Ind.-based] Tokheim [TOK] for payment
at the [gas] pump. We've provided original equipment manufacturer
technology for IBM [IBM]. ... It's a very important piece of our
business."
IVI Checkmate put several other pieces of its strategic puzzle together
in November, acquiring Debitek Holdings Ltd. of Chattanooga, Tenn., a
supplier of smart card and magnetic stripe card application program
interfaces; and Plourde Computer Services of Dublin, Calif. Plourde
designs software for companies using Windows NT. Plourde
PaymentMaster modules manage electronic payments in multilane stores
including Food Lion [FDLNA] and Kmart [KM]. NCR already promoted
Plourde products. "This just ties in very nicely," Thompson says.
The deal is seen as good for both sides. Dayton, Ohio-based NCR
gets top-flight technology, while IVI partners with a company that has
"10 times [more] salespeople in retail than they have," says NCR
Product Manager Bert Nagy.
"In the past, we have done all of our development in house,"
Nagy says. "We found there was a good synergy with the products that
IVI Checkmate has with the requirements we have."
"It's good for NCR because it reduces the amount of R&D they
have to do on the devices," says Greg Busek, president of IHL
Consulting Group of West Palm Beach, Fla. "They'll get a lower cost
by having IVI Checkmate doing it. They can refocus the R&D and lower
their manufacturing costs." (Greg Busek, IHL, 561/738-0773; Bert
Nagy, NCR, 770/623-7447; Barry Thomson, IVI Checkmate, 416/245-6700.)
