The thing is, people think of México as a place. Actually, it's an attitude.
And a valuable attitude for the overly-organised, overly-channelled norteamericano.
Couple of rules;

1. Leave your arrogance at home - just because you've got a few bucks in your pocket and the people around you don't doesn't make you God's gift to humanity or make you smarter than them or better than them in any way. In fact it stands a good chance of making you the opposite. Just be cool, don't look up or down at people, look 'em straight in the eye. Don't play the big shot - too many do and it gives gringos a bad name.

2. Watch your ass - the verb 'chingar' is central to the language
anaserve.com - it has a number of meanings and nuances, but principally means 'to cheat, to screw, to swindle, to best [another, as in a game]' .... mejicanos are known among other latinos as being devoted to the game of chingar, and it is a game. Learn to play well, and remember not everybody plays fair anywhere, and you'll be fine.

Not meant for you, Dan ... just stuff that came up in a bout of insomnia ... cheers
