We were sitting around the bonfire Wed. night--there was no snow this year but it was so clear that I could cut my hands on the stars. My sister-in-law had accidentally bought miniature marshmallows and the kids were trying to roast them in clumps when suddenly someone said, shhh! The coyotes were howling. What an eerie sound that is. Something primitive inside you responds and moves you closer to the fire, closer to each other.
