Good point. Most of the regular brokers I know of carry additional insurance. I presume the clearing houses for the daytraders do as well (one thing to check on for sure...) As far as the cash-only point, it's a good one, but I would venture a guess that most of the people who are currently daytrading with brokers such as datek probably do not have > $100K in their accounts; but the ones who do should certainly wonder about that. I know JPR sweeps to a MM at night. Is that considered cash? Dunno...
