Heartening to see big governments do the right thing now and again. And from the House of Lords, no less!

<<<<UK's Highest Court Says Pinochet Not Immune

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's highest court ruled Wednesday that Chile's Augusto Pinochet
lacked immunity from prosecution on charges of murder, torture and genocide, but the 83-year-old
former dictator vowed to fight on.

The landmark human rights ruling by a three-to-two majority of a panel of five Law Lords means
Pinochet must stay in Britain to face an extradition request by a Spanish judge, unless Home
Secretary (interior minister) Jack Straw decides to free him.

The verdict -- which drew gasps from the public gallery -- sparked rejoicing from Chilean exiles and human rights activists in
many parts of the world.>>>>
