thebeach: In contrast to NN, how come ASND and LU had no one day price spikes when both the news clips were released.?

Strange.!

< If you check the details ASND did not get the scraps, both companies will get major
pieces and NN will get a little more. The announcements were a little ambiguous but it is
clear that both firms will benefit. >

Ok, Newbridge got the backbone and ASND got something else. Your color about the "ambiguous" announcements in my opinion should be guided to ASND not Newbridge. This win by Newbridge clearly puts a dent (perhaps a understatement) in Ascends "leading" ATM solution. The market is readjusting to this shift in thinking.

Please don't get me wrong Ascend is a good company with good products but Newbridge is also a strong company that is starting to show some of its strengths, with more to come.

One should look at the current market data re NN and ASND to see the large variance in value assigned each stock

NN / ASND
Current years sales roughly the same
Marke cap 5,140B / 12,198B
Shares outstanding 174M / 208M
Share price 29 1/2 / 58 1/2

One could make the case that NN is very under valued and one could make the case that ASND has a takeover premium already factured into its price. Any way you figure it Newbridge had a long way to run if they continue to chalk up wins like China, Cable and Wireless, Global One with more to come.

I wish all you Ascend shareholders the best and I hope the share price continues to head north.

Regards
Glenn
