Re: Datek & Non US Residents Christian, I also trawled most of the 'big' online discount brokers and many of them didn't want to know when it came to the crunch that I was a non-US resident. Datek were no problem, I get all the trade confirmations sent (albeit it takes 10 days to get here! :-) the access is quick, and transferring money UK to US, although incurring some charges at both ends, happens about 5 days. Filling in the W-8 form, I'm exempt (I HOPE!) from US taxes, but I have yet to negotiate the hurdle of UK taxes (I'm really looking forward to April, my accountant will have a fit.. ;-) Don't suppose there are any UK folk on this thread who could generalise about the situation? (mail me privately?)
