Wizzer- Interesting, probably accurate thoughts re Greenline & others in Canada. I still like Micromax except the nuisance of going on & off the web.

Webbroker is going to have smarten up a lot or somebody is going to leave them in the dust. Seem to be quite a bit of dis-satisfaction with their Waterhouse operation in US also & I'm sure it must be much better than what Canadians get or they couldn't survive in that market. I am going to be complaining & let them know they can forget about me unless the new version is much faster & much improved.

Just had a minute to get online today with a borrowed computer away from home. Ever work with a keyboard that needs two hands to depress the space bar. Some of my spacing is probably errant. Better not complain when it's borrowed.

Should havestayed home today, stocks I watch moving nicely.

<I honestly believe that it is not in their vested interest to do so> Well said. Most of the big bank brokers are getting dragged kicking and screaming into the online trading business. They just try to keep the foot in the door so they don't get left too far behind if some real competition ever appears. I remember trying to use the Investorline site when they first offered online trading. The thing was terrible. Very slow, html errors, and you could not do basic things like query the status of an order or cancel or CFO an order online. At the time I immediately wrote to them detailing all the things that were wrong with the site. They politely replied as usual thanking me for my comments and assured me they would look into it. A couple years must have passed by now, and guess what? They have made virtually NO improvements to their online service in that time and have actually had the gall to hike commissions!

This is a bank making Billions/year. I'm sure they could buy a few computers and hire some Web site programmers if they felt like it. Fact is until they really feel threatened by competition somewhere either in Canada or the US I doubt anything will improve for Canadian online investors.

MicroMax is an all text Interface, so it built for speed not eye
candy. Which is what traders really want. If you know how to use
a VT100 Terminal program like Procomm Plus it is even better.

I talked to the "tekkies" and they indicated it was an older version, and the website was better. Apparently, older is better.

Using MicroMax or VT100 Terminal Software is a breeze. Its all old
fashion number menu items. I find it take about a minute to confirm
orders.

For now, I will stick with the phone and ask for the on-line rate until I become familiar with Micromax.</>
