MBT connects through the internet. Also, an endorsement for DLJ Direct. I don't use it for day trading, but for position trading of longer term holds. I found it too slow for daytrading, and for that, use MB Trade. But it's a great backup when MBT goes down..which it does...and it also has some helpful resources. My main complaint is on a busy day..it takes awhile for a human being to pick up the phone..when you call about something.

>>Are there any level 2 systems that connect to the internet or are they all direct dial up?<<

They ALL connect via TCP/IP. Even the ones using VPN's. With a 28K modem you can do most things.
So yes, If you can post on SI, you can get L2. I use ABwatley and during heavy load's the quotes fall behind, ie you see sales going through but the bid's are not updated fast enough to keep track. But the latensy will only go away with a direct connection since TCP/IP connections always have some latency. Direct connection is you dial directly long distance into their computer rather than someone elses computer.
