Dreamcast offers two: its own proprietary system and a customized version of Microsoft's Windows CE. Though Windows CE has so far targeted hand-held business computers, Sega and Microsoft claim it is also adept at handling graphics and games. Sounds like one of the MS pilots. In addition, the adapted Windows CE is currently running too slow for a game machine OS and hasn't lived up to original expectations, though "Microsoft will improve this over time, that's their way," said a rueful Irimajiri. Sega has also been forced to find an interim browser because Microsoft "was behind schedule" with its customization of Internet Explorer. Yeah-yeah. Real-Soon-Now. Makes me wonder, how could someone in his fair mind bet on a MS product when performance and stability is critical.
